TUESDAY, AUGUST 3 A character has a score for Theban Sorcery, just like any other Discipline, but the score determines the maximum level of rituals instead of granting a specific power. A ritual is gained for free when the character increases her Theban Sorcery score, but they must be purchased with experience points afterward. Rituals always cost a single point of Willpower to cast along with the expenditure of other component materials, called offerings. Each ritual has a unique set of offerings. Malediction of Despair (Level-Three Ritual) – The sorcerer curses his subject with regard to a specific action. The next time the subject engages in that action, her normal dice pool is not rolled. A chance roll is made instead. The curse can be general ("Your next attack in combat is doomed to failure!") or as specific ("When next you feed upon a blind Christian at midnight…") as the caster chooses. The curse remains until its conditions are met. Malediction of Despair requires the offering of a lock of hair from the subject. Speaking of Dread Powers – Here's another piece of art from the World of Darkness Rulebook, this time by Jamie Tolugson. Careful what eldritch vortex you open, friends. |
