Servants
of the Damned – Ghoul. The very word inspires fear and
images of the flesh-eating monstrosities of the undead. In the
world of the Kindred, though, ghouls are an essential resource – mortals
caught in the thrall of the power of the blood, alive yet sharing
the essence of the undead. The difference between a simple mortal
Vitae addict and a ghoul is that the vampire must devote not only
Vitae to her subject, but must devote a point of Willpower to the
drinker, as well. After creation, ghouls suffer the same threat
of blood addiction as vampires. Also, a ghoul must receive at least
a single point of Vitae and Willpower once a month to remain a
ghoul.
Ghouls remain
(mostly) mortal and can operate in the daytime without penalty. They
may gain supernatural qualities, however. Ghouls can use the Vitae
in their system just like a vampire can to supernaturally heal or
increase Attributes, and can learn the physical Disciplines of their
regnants. Although difficult, a ghoul may even learn higher level
or unique Disciplines. An Embraced ghoul retains all Disciplines
he had before the Embrace, as well as any addictions and Vinculums.

Care and Feeding – This
piece from Vampire: The Requiem (by Joshua Gabriel
Timbrook) shows us one way to keep your ghouls from running amok.
